Nest Camera (Gen 2 Wired)

I have been using Drop Cam / Nest Cam for many years and found the product to be very good.  With the discontinuing of Drop Cam, I received my replacement camera - Nest Cam (Gen 2 wired).  I can only connect it to Google Home and not the Nest App.  Disappointing as I have all my cameras there.  Regardless I found out that with the new camera, and having to use Google Home app, there is no way to zoom the camera in and freeze the view so that every time I look at the camera I have the same zoomed in camera view.   This camera is a waste and will be using my Drop cam until the support for Drop Cam expires.  Nothing like getting a new camera that's worse than a camera I've had for the last 8-10 years.

Will have to replace my cameras because Google can't rectify this issue.  Extremely disappointing and frustrated by the change backwards.

The zoom feature is a key feature and find it hard to understand switching the Nest App to developing the Home App and not including the features of the Nest app?  Should it be simple to add this programming code to the Home App.  I just don't see the Home App being an enhancement from the Nest App.  When I received the Nest Gen2 camera I spent a long time trying to configure it, however when I reinstalled the Drop Cam, it was a much easier install and features set up.

Does your Team have any timing on this?  At one point I looked at getting a Nest camera battery but the reviews of having to use the Home App was a reason months ago not to get one.  Now I have the full experience of what others were talking about.

Any insight is helpful.
