Nest Camera Outdoor Connection Issues

Hi,

So I have an older style nest indoor camera in my living room which is fine.

I replaced an old cctv camera today with the new nest outdoor battery(plugged in for power)

It’s probably less than a metre from the window outside and im really struggling with Wi-Fi issues.

I have google mesh Wi-Fi throughout the house but no matter where i put access points the camera will stay connected for a few seconds if that.  I have moved it indoors and it does indeed stay connected.

Realistically what can I do to improve the Wi-Fi.  Can anyone recommend a good Wi-Fi booster?

Thanks!

Hi rosspetrie ,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that your Nest Cam (battery) is having difficulties connecting correctly to your WiFi network. No worries; I'm here to help! Just to get started, I'd like to confirm some information with you. Can you please help me answer the next questions?

  • Is your WiFi router or access point within a reasonable range (1–15 meters or 3–50 feet) of the camera?
  • What color is the LED light on the camera currently?
  • Does the camera appear offline in the Google Home app?
  • Has the camera been connected to your WiFi network before?
  • Have you checked your network's download and upload speeds at the camera's location?

In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.
