Nest Camera Outdoor playback not working on Sony Bravia VU3

Hi there,

My Mom has a new home and I chose the Next cameras specifically for the ability to cast the live feed onto the TV. Except, this feature has never worked!

Pressing the Assistant button on the Sony Bravia VU3 and asking it to display the security cameras, it'll attempt to connect, only to wind up showing a grey screen with a camera with a strikethrough icon.

Asking a Google Assistant speaker to show the security cameras on the television won't even work when the assistant responds by saying it doesn't understand. I even went as far as changing the name of the TV to "Television" but that did nothing.

Any help?

Hi jgh001a,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, does your TV have a built-in Chromecast or is it a plug in Chromecast? What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far? Have you tried viewing your Nest Camera from your phones? Looking forward to your response.

Emerson

The TV is a Sony Bravia VU3, which runs Android TV natively and has Chromecast built-in. The video stream works very well on our mobile devices, which we access through Google Home.
Instructions on how to cast the video from the Nest devices are very clear. 1) make sure it's been added to the Google Home app, which the cameras and TV show up within the app. 2) Ask the Assistant to display the video on the TV. All of that works until it comes to actually showing the video, which displays a screen with the "no video" icon. Further than that, I'm unsure what else to do.

Hello jgh001a,

I appreciate all the steps you've tried. Here's a link to "Stream your Nest Camera video feed to a TV using a speaker or display". However, if this won't help, you might want to contact your TV manufacturer.

Best,

Emerson
