Nest Camera / Solar

When connecting Nest Camera to Wasserstein Solar Panel Accessory does it enable 24/7 just as it would if it was Wired?

Hi there, Jg.

None of your video footage will save unless you have a Nest Aware Subscription. The Solar Panel just enables it to be charged for longer most likely, and will utilize the sun to help keep it up and running. Please let me know if you need anything further.

Best Regards,

Brad.

If the camera is connected to Solar, will it disable the known “idle” I continue to see when the camera is not connected to power? Or do we truly need this connected to power 24/7 to remove the idle?

No idea. Trying to find out. Clearly nobody is informed enough to have the answer. Or haven't tried it yet.

I current have a bunch of Blink cameras that I power from the Wasserman solar panels. Want to get to a single ecosystem in the house and switch the Blink to Nest (although relative cost is a factor too). Need to understand what type of USB connector is on the camera and current draw to determine how long my existing panels would power the camera if there was no sun. Thanks.

ugh, I now see a Wasserstein panel for the cameras is now coming and that the connector is proprietary, so my existing panels will not be compatible. Annoying!
