Nest Camera and Floodlight

I purchased a a Nest Camera and Floodlight in 2022. Less than a year later it stopped working. It had a battery issue, but it’s hard wired. Google sent me a replacement. 10 months later, same exact issue. Google’s response was your out of warranty, buy a new one. I have 4 Nest cameras outdoors and they have worked just fine for years. It’s my understanding that this is a common issue with these cameras. I can’t believe that Google wouldn’t stand behind their product. Anyone have any guidance?

I am experiencing the same exact issue with my back door floodlight.  The camera is wired but only the battery feature works. I tried resetting the camera but that fails. The floodlight is still under warranty so Google sent me a new floodlight a few days ago but now having the same exact issue. I am about to call Google support and possibly get another Google floodlight replacement.

My other cameras sometimes pixalate or go offline. It's not my wifi because I have fiber and several Google access points.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, is the problem intermittent?  What is the light status of your Nest Camera right now? Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Emerson

It states:

Offline because of an empty batter.

This has been the issue we have had with the original and the replacement. It is hardwired to the house.

Hi Colefam0816,

I appreciate your update. Try restarting it by dismounting it and pressing the button at the back for 5 seconds. In case there's no response from the Nest Camera, you may reset it to the factory default.

To reset:

1. Locate the reset button on the back of your Nest Camera.

  • Tip: The reset button on your Nest Camera is located on the back of the camera head.

2. Press and hold the button:

  • At 10 seconds, the status light will flash yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
  • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the camera starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.

3. Release the button. Your Nest Camera will restore to its factory settings.

4. After the factory reset, your Nest Camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.

To remove it from the app, open the app, tap on the device, then tap Settings> Remove device > Confirm.

5. To learn more, you may visit our public article about “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell”.

Regards,

Emerson

It worked for a few hours and then it stopped. It says battery empty, needs to be charged. It’s hard to believe two cameras won’t last more than a year. Can I get a replacement?
