Nest Camera false people report

LintnerA
Community Member

I have a Nest Doorbell that keeps sending notifications that person(s) are at my door when there are not. It does it mainly at night and seems to be relating to the night vision capabilities. I recently put up a flag on my front porch which has also been triggering it a lot.

Hi LintnerA,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving false alerts.

There are a few things that can trigger unwanted alerts or false positives, here are common triggers to name a few:

  • Changes in the light level.
  • Shadow moving across the frame. For example, if a cloud moves in front of the sun.
  • Trees or bushes swaying near your important areas.
  • Headlights or flashing entering the field of view.
  • Garage door alerts: Open side doors or large windows within the field of view or etc.

Therefore, we recommended to create an activity zone to receive the alerts in the area you draw. Please take a look at this article: Set up and use Activity Zones - Google Nest Help.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist you further!

Best regards,

Rusell.
