Nest Camera saved videos

ClayK

I do not have a Nest Aware subscription so I know not all of my video is saved for very long but it seems my camera wipes the videos every night.

I had action at my door twice last night after I went to bed but before midnight but this morning both videos are gone before I even had a chance to view them.

Is this normal? It seems like I should be able to see these videos at least once??

Same here for my next camera, it only saves for 3 hours. Can i change?

Yeah seems pointless if someone/something comes in the middle of the night and you know that the camera went off but you have no video.....I have to admit I am starting to regret this purchase.

With Google Nest's newer cameras (like your floodlight camera), us customers get EVENT video history only--and only for the most recent 3 hours--without a Nest Aware subscription:

Thank you....I do see that now, but it seems like you should be able to see more than 3 hours without a paid subscription. An average person sleeps for more than 3 hours.....as I mentioned someone came to my door at midnight last night and I received the alert but did not wake up......at 5 am when I did get up I don't have access to the video but there was action at my door......seems like a waste of a feature and just one more thing that I assumed the camera would do when I purchased it......again my bad.....there are much cheaper options that have many of the features that these Nest Cameras do not have.....all I can hope is someone looking into a door camera reads these posts so that they too so not purchase something that does not do what they expected.

@ClayK

I don't know what other camera manufacturers do. Ring and SimplySafe also require a subscription in order to have access to video history. Some other camera manufacturers offer varying degrees of free history but I'm not familiar with the details; for example: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/security-camera-storage-plans-comparison,review-5178.html

Hi there,

Thanks for your help, MplsCustomer.

You would definitely need/want a Nest Aware subscription if you are looking to view your video history long term. Here is a great link on how Nest Aware works and how to subscribe. In addition, here is a link on how to manage your subscription. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad
