Nest Cameras all went offline June 5th at the same time

JFSharpe42

Hello,

I have 5 nest cam battery and a nest doorbell. All hardwired. On June 5th around 9pm EST all of my cameras went offline. The doorbell still works. Yet since then I have not been able to get these devices back online. Anyone else have this bug with the latest update? Really upsetting me because I’ve been having a lot of issues with the WiFi pro and now the cameras add to the drama. Everything else functions on my network as intended. Speeds are great. Any one else experiencing this?

I talked to Google today.

Its a known bug thats been going around the last two weeks, it dont affect everyone… Google say it will be online by itself when they fix it, but dont know when that will be!

It seems the Google Support is completely oblivious to the issue. They just wanted to perform reboots etc. At the end I was informed they are working on the fix but I have a strong feeling they just told me what I wanted to hear so I get off the support chat.

Meanwhile, the doorbell is ringing, events are being recorded, notifications work, but there is no live feed.

Same here from Germany. All devices are off! My nest cams 2nd Generation battery which are wired connected. My doorbell 2nd Generation wired connected and my indoor google wired cam. All of them are off line started yesterday and it was one behind the other till of them went down. All of the still sending though event notifications!!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out. Our team is already aware of this behavior and is still looking further into the issue. I'll merge this with the similar trending issue on this thread in the community. I suggest that you follow the main thread for updates because this thread will be locked automatically once merged into the main one.

Regards,

Emerson

All my devices came back live now

Confirming the same for me - both devices are functioning normally and completely again.

Mine are online and Google responds to questions and controls my smart home devices. The cameras are offline and when I check the settings in the app it shows “ Home Monitoring Features “  as off and when I switch it on it reverts back to off. Both Hub Max cameras went offline June 21st close to the same time.

I have the exact same thing. Tried everything you've tried. Still no go on my camera's.

Where is Google?

They're all busy claiming there's no issue and telling us to delete all our data and configuration via hard reset.

Have terminated my nest aware sub until it's sorted, or until I replace them all with Ring hardware, so...a week or two at most before I give up on the hardware forever.

Had the same issue, did a hard reset on all 3 camera's and now I have live feed again. Try this on one camera (remove from google home, reset camera and add it again). Took about an hour to do this but worked

It's all back online for me now

This worked for me although the camera setup wasn't without any hickups. There is something not working properly on the Google backend.

Anyways,

Dankjewel RaakNL. 😉

It was completely unnecessary. My cameras went offline and once they have fixed the server issue, they became operational again. I did not even reboot them, because the issue was not with the cameras.

I have nest cam battery outdoor, been offline for two days, tried charging for several hours but no green or white lights. Tried reset but no sounds or lights and still nothing - is there a planned update? Do I keep it mounted?

Although after a clean factory reset, both of my cams (battery) worked again since Tuesday, this night the first one has gone offline again ... This is sooo embarrassing! It's not a speaker or something else of low importance, it's a security tool ! Get this fixed please! Or at least increase the communication pace and quality Google!!!

Google cameras and the home app aren't fit for purpose never have been never will be. Mine have been faulty for over a year. If you're a prospective buyer take heed of the plethora of ongoing complaints and buy another brand. Google sell garbage then abandon the consumer.

stop spamming.. that's not helping at all!

I would call it spreading information about a faulty product thats not fit for purpose. I wouldn't call it spamming. Maybe advising prospective buyers best i can not to buy googles garbage products.

Here as a Nest Pro!

I have been dealing with this issue with my doorbell (wired 2nd gen) since May, you guys replaced it with a new and that one started doing the same. Then I tried with Battery doorbell and it only lasted 2 days until it went offline. I have hard reseted wired doorbell SEVERAL TIMES and it only last lest than 24h until it goes offline.
Floodlight has been offline one time, and after hard reset is fine.
Want to point out I have also tried this with Nest Hello and this issue doesn’t happen. Nest hello works like a champ.
my biggest issue right now is that clients have started to call me because at least one of the air cameras are going off-line.

GOOGLE WHERE IS THE FIX FOR THIS AND WHEN??

This have to be fixed ASAP!!!!

I fixed my issue by replacing the router.  Which is a very expensive fix, but it worked.

My old router was a generic one from the ISP.  It was a mesh, and it had decent signal from everywhere I needed.  A speed test from my phone at the doorbell was great.  But the signal strength of the doorbell reported on the router listed as fair, and it would never connect to 5 Ghz.  It only connected to 2.4 ghz.

When I replaced it with an Orbi mesh system, the doorbell will now connect to 5 ghz full time and appears to be working.  So either the 2.4 ghz antenna on the doorbell was bad or weak, or the doorbell camera had some sort of issue with the way the last router handled the mesh connection.

This has affected my Nest doorbell (hardwired) for over two months. The Home app feed says it's offline, and it never loads. Rarely will it show up. It will still notify people and packages, but no recorded video.

Nest cam outdoor (battery) seems to be working perfectly. I have 4 of these in different places at different properties, all functioning like champs.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Nest cameras and doorbell. Technical glitches like these can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check Power and Connections:

    • Make sure all your cameras and the doorbell are receiving power and are properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.
    • Verify that the hardwired connections are secure and not loose.
  2. Restart Devices:

    • Try restarting your Nest cameras and doorbell by unplugging them from power and then plugging them back in.
    • Also, consider power cycling your Wi-Fi router to ensure a fresh connection.
  3. Check Internet Connection:

    • Confirm that your Wi-Fi network is functioning properly. Other devices on the network should be able to access the internet without issues.
  4. Check Nest App:

    • Ensure that you have the latest version of the Nest app installed on your mobile device.
    • Log in to the app and check for any error messages or notifications related to your cameras.
  5. Wi-Fi Signal Strength:

    • Poor Wi-Fi signal strength can lead to connectivity issues. Ensure that the cameras and doorbell are within a reasonable range of your router.
  6. Reset Network Settings:

    • If you're still facing issues, you might consider resetting the network settings on the cameras and doorbell. Refer to the user manual or Nest support documentation for instructions.
  7. Contact Nest Support:

    • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's a good idea to reach out to Nest customer support. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or assist with diagnosing the problem.
  8. Check for Firmware Updates:

    • Sometimes, issues can arise due to outdated firmware. Make sure that your cameras and doorbell are running the latest firmware version available.
  9. Check for Service Outages:

    • Occasionally, there might be service outages or maintenance from Nest's end that could affect device connectivity. Check Nest's official social media accounts or support page for any updates on service status.
  10. Factory Reset (as a Last Resort):

    • If all else fails, you might need to perform a factory reset on your cameras and doorbell. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings, so proceed with caution.

Remember that technology glitches can sometimes be a result of software updates, compatibility issues, or temporary network disruptions. It's recommended to document the troubleshooting steps you've taken and any error messages you encounter, as this information can be helpful when seeking assistance from Nest support.

I did nothing and after several months my equipment is back online and functioning. So they wanted me to jump through hoops, until they figured out what they messed up.
