I have two outdoor cameras and one Hub Max. Everytime there is a house powercut they don't restore their connection. To solve this I have turn off the power to each in turn which is not acceptable.
I suspect it is a sequencing issue with the house broadband modem, and wifi extending mains adapter and the cameras. There are lots of other people with the same/similar issues and I'm sure it just needs better software in the camera.
Has anyone got any solutions that don't rely on human intervention?
Google please look in to this and provide some updated firmware?

Hey mrich. I have half a dozen nest cameras and many hubs / speakers and I have never ran into such issue before. Like you had mentioned, I wonder if it’s in your topology. I am using a modem which is connected to a mesh router network. What’s your network topology like?

Hi Brian,
I have a broadband wifi router with one camera directly connected to. I then have one mains adapter with wired ethernet connected from the router. Then two mains wifi access points distributed around the house, one with outdoor camera and the other with hub max.
The property is rural and has frequent power cuts (~1 every few months). I suspect the power cuts are very short.

Hi there,
Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. I have some questions I’d like to ask you first:
Do you still need help with this issue?
What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?
Have you tried to restart your device?
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best Regards,
Brad.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for help. The currently issue is not fixed and yes I have restarted the device.
The steps so far were to change the order of rebooting various devices in different orders to try and establish where the problem lies. This is what led me to isolate the issue to the cameras. But when discussing the problem with the router provider they indicated there could be an issue with DHCP. What they said was that under a power cut scenario where all devices switch on at the same time there is a race condition between the devices powering up. It could be that the router is slower than everything else and because I have some TP-LINK powerline devices which I understand have a fall back DHCP server for some reason the cameras request their IP address and the TP-link respond's rather than the routers DHCP.
I haven't been able to prove this yet because I'm remote and asking my 83yr old dad with Alzhiemers to do more than switching plugs on/off that's where I'm at.
To me my next steps are to upgrade the TP-links firmware to one that when set as static IP they disable their fall back DHCP server and probably for the best set static IP's in the camera but I will need to visit to do this and therefore prove that is the problem.
Would be nice to be able to find out from the cameras what IP's they have been given, I'm sure there would be a log somewhere or maybe over bluetooth. It's dissapointing to have these issues when the system is there to protect a vunerable person.
Thanks
Matt
