Nest Doorbell 1st Gen wired wont Factory Reset

I saw some posts to this but is this being addressed by Google?? The fact that you can’t reset the device is ridiculous!   I only got this 2 years ago and when I went to follow the factory reset to change the WiFi I now have a paperweight. It still rings the doorbell but no connection to the app so no video . Just an old fashioned doorbell now.

I have done ALL instructions so don’t post any replies about holding down the reset button longer than the 10 seconds or check if I have the right paper clip ( I can feel the reset button depressing (. The light actually goes off after 10 seconds but when I try to add it to the app again it tells me it recognizes that it has been setup and wants me to to try to factory reset it. I haven’t been brave enough to crack it open and pull out the internal battery as I saw on another post.  Come on Google !  You are better than this !  I can see if this was like a $20 or $30 product than I would be Oh well just buy another . But it’s like $150!  Only 2 years !!!

I'm assuming you were holding down the doorbell button as well as depressing the reset pin while keeping the doorbell connected to the doorbell wires.

On some 1st gen cameras and doorbells, in the Google Nest app you can go to Settings | Home info | Home Wi-Fi help, select your camera or doorbell, and update the Wi-Fi settings. It seems like you can do this AFTER you're on a new Wi-Fi network, because the instructions seem to indicate it's using Bluetooth.

Otherwise, are you able to set your network name (SSID) and password on your new router/modem to the same values used on your old router/modem? Since updating Wi-Fi settings on Google Nest devices is not easy, this is Google Nest's first recommendation. We did this when we got a new router/modem a couple of years ago, and did not have to update any of our Google Nest devices.

I don't whether pulling out the internal battery would help, and the case is not designed to be pried open. (The internal battery has now failed on all 3 of our Nest Hellos, so we've turned off the "Indoor chime" option to keep the doorbell from going offline whenever the doorbell button is pressed, and use the "Visitor announcements" option instead.)
