Nest Doorbell Battery ridiculously long delay

Yes, another complain, from another person. There is a 7s delay, even longer when someone rings the door. I'm losing my patience with google to fix it. It is ridiculous to sell a faulty product. At one point I had a problem with the doorbell not fitting back into the metal frame due to a faulty design and support took around 2 weeks to react on my warranty. I had to fix it myself cause not having a doorbell is impossible to live with nowadays. I am stuck in the Google ecosystem but I would switch in a second ti competition if I'd be able to get some good money on current gear.

I experienced the same issue, the delay is 8-10 sec. Saw another thread about this same issue and it was posted in mid 2022, one year later the same issue still happening

Yep same here.. but oddly it wasn't always such a long delay. At least for my Nest doorbell (battery). Everything was fine until a few weeks back and then it started... in our case this seems to be a recent issue..

Yep, it's got a lot worse over the last few weeks. It was around the same time there was a google home app update.

But im now faced with delays of around 30 seconds, while other cheaper devices notifications are immediate.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, are you getting your notification through push notification or email? Have you tried checking the notification delay with a different mobile phone? Try signing in to a different mobile phone and check if there will be any delay. You may also connect it to a different Wifi network. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Emerson, there are loads of threads on this topic. It is not just a delay on the phone..trying a different pixel phone will have zero impact. it is a delay on the chime on all devices including the home speakers and nest hub inside.. you ring the doorbell and it chimes immediately on the doorbell itself.. then there is a delay of 5 to 10 seconds before the chime and notification happens on devices and speakers.. this is surely by now a known issue with so many people complaining about the same problem. Honestly it is feeling like community support are intentionally throwing smoke bombs at the problem.. I've asked this before but had no answer, is there any way to contact Google tech support directly on this topic?

@EmersonB can you please explain how to connect your Doorbell and all connected home devices to "a different WiFi network"?

Im getting the notification via push. I've tried it on other phones and have a few other Google Home devices, and they take between 15-30 seconds before receiving any notifications. I've tried resetting the doorbell and switching networks, but the same problem remains.

I have other much cheaper security cameras, and they notify me almost immediately, which is all im after with the Google doorbell.

In fact, I can't call it a doorbell at the moment, as people ring it and walk off before im aware they are outside.

Hi folks,

@Jonnoprice, we appreciate you getting back to us. I know where you're coming from and we wanted to make it up to you. For Nest Doorbell, remove it from your app then reset it and add it back. You may hit this link to reach our support team.

@deanandthat, have you tried resetting your Nest Doorbell to the factory default? In case not yet, here's how.

@Frank05, thanks for sharing what happened to your friend's Nest Doorbell.

Best,
Emerson

Hi, I subscribed to this topic yesterday since I had the same problem. I'm helping a non-techie friend to install a Doorbell (battery) and a Nest Hub 2nd gen, but before I tested the devices in my home yesterday. Everytime there was a delay of 8 to 10 seconds after pressing the button at the doorbell before the Nest Hub and my Pixel 7 showed the notification.

I retested this 2 hours ago with same results. But now, without changing anything, the notifications on the Nest Hub come almost instantly (2 seconds max), on the Pixel it still varies between 2 and 10 seconds. Very strange....

Thanks.. I really hope tech support are on the case.. at the moment all community support threads are going round in circles on the topic.
