Nest Doorbell Error: Unable to start device pairing, configuration not available.

Hi somebody clever,

My ex-husband has moved out of thr house but won't give me access to thr Google nest doorbell. I have done a factory reset to try and start again. I tired through Google home app and nest app. Google home said couldn't pair device. Configuration not available at this time. And nest app said its still linked to the old user.

The 'old user' won't remove himself from the account.

Please help me remove him and set myself up on the doorbell. He doesn't even live at the property anymore.

I don't know whether this will work or not, but you can try the "camera deactivation steps" posted by Google Nest Community Specialist @janthadeus a couple of weeks ago on this thread:

Hello everyone,

@Dayz thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear if you're having trouble connecting your Nest doorbell to your app. To confirm, do you have the battery or wired type of Nest doorbell?

Give these steps a try:

  • The camera must be offline for 48 hours before setting it up. Unplug the camera(s). Wait at least 48 hours.
  • The camera will be automatically unpaired from the original owner's account.
  • The previous owner will receive an email to notify them about the removal of the camera from their account.
  • The camera will be paired to the new account.

I did try these steps but it's still not working sadly. Is there anything else I could try or is there a way of speaking to a Google support team member directly?

It would be great to get going on it within the next 48hrs, as going away and need the security of the camera set up and working before I leave. Any way to hurry them along would be so appreciated 🙏
