Nest Doorbell Notification is Always Empty

This screenshot from my watch is representative of what I see almost every time there is a notification from my doorbell. The person enters the frame a couple seconds later but the preview shows an empty porch. This is an Amazon delivery but it happens with people standing on the porch as well. Rather than getting a picture of their face I see a blank porch. Ideally the notification would contain the person who triggered the notification.

Hi fletc3her,

I’m sorry for the delay. Let’s see what’s going on — are the notifications for the seen events turned on in your Google Home app?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Open the Google Home app and click your camera thumbnail.
  2. Go to Settings > Events > Seen events.
  3. Turn on "Your notifications" option for People, Animals, Vehicles, or Motion.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

The problem isn't that there aren't any notifications. It's that the thumbnail for the notification often doesn't contain the subject which triggered the notification in frame. I'm glancing at the thumbnail to see who is at the door so it doesn't help much if I see the empty porch from just before the trigger.

Just a shout into the darkness.
