Nest Doorbell (battery) - Ring Inside

Kent_in_Canada

Hello,

I recently bought a Nest Doorbell (battery) and installed it, unaware that it would not work with my Google Hub. I am very disappointed that this wasn't more clearly communicated...not really a Nest product if it doesn't work with the other Nest offerings.

What are my options to hear the doorbell while at home, outside of the notification to my phone? I would like to know when someone is ringing my doorbell without having to keep my phone on my person 24/7.

Thank you

Kent

If you turn on "Visitor announcements" in Settings for your Google Nest Hello Doorbell or your Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), you should get an announcement on all of your Google Nest Hubs and Google Nest Minis (and other Google Nest speakers, I believe) whenever the doorbell button is pushed.

Thank you, but I tried this and it doesn't work. I turned on the Visitor Announcements in for my doorbell, but there is still no notification to my Hub when I ring the doorbell.

Well, it SHOULD work, as long as your doorbell is in the same "home" or "structure" as your Google Nest Hub.

You could try contacting Google Nest Support using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en

Thank you. It is actually working now. Not sure why there was a delay from adjusting the settings and beginning to work, but it is working fine now. Thanks for the help.

Another customer (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Doorbell/m-p/183891) is reporting that "Visitor announcements" doesn't work with their Nest Mini.  Since a non-wired battery doorbell cannot ring a chime, visitor announcements on a Nest Hub or Nest Mini is the only option.

@Brad   , can you verify that "Visitor announcements" also does not work with the new Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) when the doorbell is using battery power? These seem to be an extraordinary design limitation that should be documented.

Hi,

I'm having this same issue of "no chime while in battery mode" I would have never purchased this product if I would have known this from the beginning.
