Hello Zeppy,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

I apologize to hear that you are having trouble with the live video from your Nest devices. Let's take a look at this together.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check for any available iOS or Android updates and install them, if there are any.
  2. Uninstall the Google Home app.
  3. Restart the mobile device.
  4. Re-install the Google Home app and check if the issue is resolved.
  5. If the issue persists, run a speed test at the location of the device and check the upload speed. Here’s a guide to the Internet bandwidth and speed requirements for Nest cameras.
  6. If a slow connection at home is the cause of the issue with your camera, change its video quality to a lower setting.
  7. Open the Home app .
  8. Tap your device's tile.
  9. Tap Settings Video.
  10. Lower the video quality from Max to High.
  11. Change the connection from Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa if the live video still isn’t loading.

You can check out this help center article to learn how to troubleshoot if the video doesn't play, pauses, or skips.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance

Hi there,

Viewing the camera live feed of your Nest cameras (wired, 2nd gen) isn’t available in the Nest app only in the Google Home. This includes all 2nd gen Nest cameras and doorbells. For 1st gen Nest cameras and doorbell, you can view their live feed on the Nest app and Google Home app.

Follow the steps below to create and download a video clip:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Select your camera.
  3. Tap History near the bottom of the screen.
  4. Scroll to an event in your camera's video history timeline. You can also tap Full history for a list of events.
  5. Choose the event you want, then tap Event details.

Near the top of the screen, tap Download download nest app icon to save the video clip to your phone. From there, you can share the video clip via email or social media app.

Note: You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You cannot download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.

I appreciate the help, Lance.

Regards,

Jenelyn

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delayed response, @Zeppy. We'll check this out. We´ll reset the Nest doorbell to factory default. Make sure to download important video captured by the Nest Doorbell before doing these steps:

  1. Remove your doorbell from its base, insert the release tool into the hole at the bottom of your doorbell. You can also use an unfolded paper clip or a drawing pin.
    1. Tip: Don't unscrew the wires attached to the back of your camera.
  2. Hold down two buttons on your doorbell for about 10 seconds:
    1. Hold down the reset pin on the back (insert the release tool or paperclip into the hole near the top).
    2. At the same time, hold down the big doorbell button on the front.
  3. Your doorbell will chime and its light ring will start spinning blue, then flash yellow, and then all the lights will turn off. Release the two buttons.
  4. The factory reset is complete when your camera chimes and the light ring starts slowly pulsing blue.
  5. After the factory reset, your doorbell will appear as 'Offline' in the app until you remove it.
  6. To remove it from the app: open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon Remove device Confirm.
  7. If you're giving your camera to someone else, you've now finished. If you want to reconnect your camera to the app, simply go through the camera setup in the app again.

Also, for the Nest app keeps on closing, is it only happening on your ipad? Or is it happening with all of your devices?

Best,

Renz
