Nest Doorbell (wired, Gen 2) alerts stopped showing up on Android

We have the Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2) on Google Home app (Android) that is no longer showing alerts on our Samsung A14 smartphones (Android). 

One UI version: 6.1  / Android version: 14

  1. WORKED PREVIOUSLY: The alerts worked perfectly before and suddenly stopped working.

  2. CURRENTLY WORKS: The alerts work perfectly on our Pixel Tablet. The app and camera are working as expected. Just no longer working the A14s.

  3. TIMELINE: The alerts formerly worked about 4-6 weeks ago. They have stopped working on two separate A14 devices.

  4. TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPTED:
    • Checked Notification Settings on the Samsung A14
    • Verified Google Home App Settings
    • Factory reset then firmware & UI updates on Samsung A14
    • Uninstalled, reconfigured, and signed back into Google Home app
    • Removed the Nest Doorbell from Home and added it back.

  5. Wi-Fi:
    • Ensured that both the Samsung A14 and Nest Doorbell are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Restarted the router to refresh the network connection.

  6. BATTERY OPTIMIZATION:
    • No background usage limits or optimization settings are turned on.
    • Not in the 'Sleeping Apps' list
    • Google Home was added to 'Never auto sleeping apps'


Incredibly frustrating.

Does anyone have any additional troubleshooting to suggest?

  • Are these devices using the same Google Home app account as your Pixel Tablet?
  • Have you tried toggling the notification settings in the Google Home app off and then on again?
  • While you've checked the notification settings in the Google Home app, have you also verified the app's permissions?

Thank you for your teams attention on this.

  1. Yes - we can view event history and the app is otherwise working as expected.
  2. Yes - all devices are on the same account and same Wi-Fi.
  3. Yes - we tried toggling on and off as well full reinstall.
  4. Yes - we checked all recommended permissions.
