Nest Doorbell

Our door chimes are located midway between the Nest doorbell and a transformer for the doorbell in our garage.  I installed my Nest Doorbell the first time years ago - no problems.

We are trying to install a new set of chimes, but get a bussing/humming sound when I turn the breaker back on.

I connected one pair of red/white wires from the Transformer to the Nest push-in white/grey connectors.

Then the ends of the Nest wires to the "FRONT" and "TRANS" connector points on the chimes.

I connected one pair of red/white wires from the doorbell to the "FRONT" and "TRANS" connector points on the chimes.

At this point when I apply power to the doorbell breaker, is when I get a buzzing/humming sound from the chimes.   So I second-guessed myself and reversed the NEST wires to the "FRONT" & "TRANS" but got the same results.

Any ideas?

I can't visualize exactly what you have, so:

This post has a wiring digram for one Nest Hello and one chime:

Hello Yeziam12,

I appreciate you posting in the Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest doorbell. Let’s check it out.

Just to be sure we’re on the same page: do you have the Nest Doorbell (wired), also known as the Nest Hello, or the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)? Are you using the chime connector that came with the device? Do you have a mechanical or electronic chime? Can you send a photo of the wiring at the chime box and at the back of the doorbell? Also, what is the voltage and power rating of the transformer?

This handy guide may help you troubleshoot. See the wired installations section.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for chiming in, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance

Case closed - switched to a battery power - much easier.  Tks.
