Nest Floodlight issue

ajones164

Hello All,

The floodlights on my Nest Cam is hyper sensitive and is pretty much always on.

This is my second post (first one got locked by the time I was able to respond).

I have factory reset the system twice, uninstalling and reinstalling. I've also delved into the settings to try and adjust the sensitivity, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

On somewhat of a personal level I'm not too fussed, as the camera seems to be unaffected & these lights face away from my house, but trying not to annoy my neighbnours!

Any advice greatly recieved!

Hi @ajones164,

That sounds frustrating. Let's get those floodlights under control. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

  • Double-check Motion Zones: Make sure the motion zones you've set up in the Google Home app don't cover areas with frequent movement, like a public sidewalk or your neighbor's driveway.
  • Adjust Motion Sensitivity: Lower the motion sensitivity settings within the Google Home app to reduce how often the floodlights turn on.
  • Customize Light Triggers: Explore the option to select triggers for the floodlights. You can choose to have them activate based on motion detection, live viewing, or camera events.

Additionally here you can find a helpful article that can help you to use the Home app to customize your Google Nest floodlight settings.

Additional Tips:

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your Nest Cam has the latest firmware update. Updates sometimes include bug fixes or improvements to motion detection algorithms.

By following these steps, you should be able to reduce the sensitivity of the floodlights and minimize any inconvenience caused to your neighbors.

Please let us know if you were able to fix it and if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Josh
