I have two Nest wired Doorbell. Everytime someone presses the button, it cuts out mid ring in the device, and loses power. 30 seconds later, the Nest doorbell comes back on. Very strange. Both of my door bell is behaving like this. Can Google send me a replacements as this appear to be defective design???

Hello, I'm an end user like you. So this is a known issue with the NEST HELLO doorbells. There is a small battery inside that keeps the cameras running in the moment when the button is pushed and for that brief moment the camera is no longer getting power from the wires. Over time this battery fails and unfortunately it is not user replaceable. However there is a youtube video that shows how it can be done. But it isn't simple.
Google will only replace cameras at no-charge if they are within the 1-year warranty from your date of purchase. And to the best of my knowledge they will not offer to repair them at all. After that 1 year mark we are on our own. Generally the battery lasts 3-6 years from what I can tell. Your best bet is to replace it with a used HELLO from an ebay seller. At this time I cannot recommend the newer Nest Doorbells as they have a whole different set of issues.
Hope this helps.

I turned off the door chime to get around this problem but cannot rely on hearing the announcement from my Google home devices. I am considering going to Google Nest doorbell (wired) 2nd generation, but I wonder if it will have the same problem as gen 1 after 4-5 years, or if the 2nd generation wired has a backup battery that is user replaceable?

Over time, this has happened to all three of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells. Since the internal battery's purpose is to provide power to the doorbell during the instant when power is diverted to ring the indoor doorbell chime, turning off the "Indoor chime" option keeps the doorbell from going offline. Like many customers, we instead use the "Visitor announcements" option to send announcements to our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini when the doorbells are pressed.
