I have had this doorbell for five years (almost exactly). It has worked fine until recently. The camera works fine, but the button on the doorbell does not work anymore. I removed the doorbell and touched the wires together; the chime rings just fine. Seems that the button has shorted out in the doorbell unit. Assume it is getting sufficient power as the camera works just fine. Time to buy a new unit? Or is it covered somehow?

Many smart doorbells come with a 1-5 year warranty. Since yours is around five years old, it may or may not be covered.
Check the manufacturer’s website or your purchase receipt for warranty details. Some brands offer extended warranties or replacement programs for long-term users.

Does your doorbell also go offline for about a minute whenever the doorbell button is pressed?
If so, you may have a failed internal battery, like hundreds of other Google Nest customers. It has now happened to all 3 of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells. Like other customers, we've turned off the "Indoor chime" option. Since the purpose of the internal battery is to provide power to the doorbell during the instant when the doorbell button is pressed and power is diverted to ring the indoor doorbell chime, this keeps the doorbell from going offline when the doorbell button is pressed. We instead use "Visitor announcements" to send notices to our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini.
