Nest Hello doorbell won’t turn back on after it’s mounted

I just got a 2nd Nest Hello after my first one apparently died after about 5 years of use and wouldn’t recharge. Went through the setup getting it connected to my WiFi just fine with it being plugged into an outlet. Mounted it where the previous one was, but for some reason it won’t turn on at all. Did not experience this issue with the first one so not sure why it’s happening now.

Hi @WilliamFu,

I'm sorry to hear your new Nest Hello isn't turning on after mounting. I know this can be frustrating, especially since you didn't have this issue with your previous doorbell. Let's go through some steps to get it working:

  • Restart: A simple restart can often resolve unexpected glitches.

  • Verify Power:

    • Wired: Ensure your existing doorbell transformer is compatible with Nest Hello. It should provide sufficient voltage, typically between 16V and 24V AC.
  • Check Wiring (Wired Only): Double-check that all the wiring connections at the mounting location are secure. They might have come loose during installation.
  • Factory Reset (Last Resort): If the above steps don't work, a factory reset might be necessary.
    • Important: This will erase all your settings and paired devices.

If you've tried these steps and your Nest Hello doorbell remains unresponsive, please don't hesitate to contact our Nest support team directly.

Best,

Brandon.
