Nest Hub Display is slower than Nest Mini because of loading sequence

Whenever a visitor presses on the doorbell, both Nest Hub Display and Nest Mini will announce visitors.

However, Nest Hub Display is slower than Nest Mini in announcing.

This is because Nest Hub Display tries to loads the video stream before announcing it via audio.

This is not a user configurable thing. This UX needs to be fixed at code level. Is it possible to announce visitor BEFORE/WHILE loading the video stream on the Nest Hub Display?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you're having these troubles. I understand how upsetting this could be, but I'm happy to assist you with this obstacle.

Though we appreciate the feedback, I'm afraid that we wouldn't be able to resolve this inquiry here. You are more than welcome to leave your direct feedback in the app.

Best regards,
Brad

Thanks for the ping, didn’t see it until now.

Restarting the device doesn’t solve the issue. It is what it is.  I would suggest the developers to practise dogfooding and test it if possible in slower regions of the world. They should improve the flow. I can report this in app but that doesn’t guarantee it would even be sent over successfully and seen and prioritised. If you are an google employee, please help to pass the message along so they can look into this simple change. Thanks!

Hi folks,

@Brad, @Jake, appreciate the help.
@CyberMew, That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out.

To narrow things down, what’s the distance between your Nest Hub and your router? Aside from the restart/reboot, what troubleshooting steps have you done?  Also, our Google Home/Nest devices rely heavily on your Wi-Fi connection.

Could you try moving your Google Nest Hub closer to the router and check if there will be a difference?

Keep me posted.

Best,
Dan

It’s not my network. I’m running fibre with wifi 6. In fact it is not a network issue but a programming issue. It’s just how it’s designed to work by ensuring the video shows up first before the sound plays. That’s it.

I hope this can be raised to the product manager. The fix should theoretically be an easy change, hopefully. It just need eyes on it to get it to the top of the product backlog. As of now I don’t see it even in the backlog. Please help to raise it up to the product owner(s) for consideration, so they can determine the priority and add it in the backlog.

Thanks!
