Nest IQ Cameras 50% failure rate

Had 4 Nest IQ cans installed just over 2 years ago.

One died and Google were good and replaced it.

However another one has now gone, and they are refusing to do anything as it is just out of warranty. I didn’t get anywhere quoting consumer rights and them lasting a reasonable time.

This model is now discontinued and I’m not inclined to spend another penny on a nest cam as the new ones don’t work with the nest app anyway, only google home.

Anyone had any luck pursuing Google successfully for out of warranty assistance?

If not is the Eufy brand where is should be looking?

Hi Geoggy,  I (and thousands of other folks) share your frustration with Google not helping with broken cams.  And I also share your frustration with the new gen cams and the Google Home app.

To answer your question about EUFY I bought (2) of them in the last 3 months and I like them a lot.  They are probably your best choice for replacing the Nest cams (in my opinion) However the software app is still not as good as the NEST app.  I will continue to use the EUFY cams but for now I will stick with buying used gen1 NEST cams from ebay.  I have done that twice in the last year and that seems to be the path of least pain and least money while keeping the fantastic NEST APP in my life.  I will be very sad the day they turn that off.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. It’s the fact I’m being asked to put a £300 camera in the bin that I find annoying.

It is bad for the environment and it is in contravention of my statutory rights under UK Consumer Law.

If I get no resolution from a company on a complaint, then I will treat them with similar disdain and simply move my custom elsewhere. It won’t be long until the other 3 cameras fail anyway.

I find the Nest app unreliable. Often get the Try Again failure and invariably the person that rang the doorbell has gone by the time it does load.

Nothing further here? The camera is dead and Google aren’t interested. That’s how multi billion corporations work.
