Nest Outdoor Battery Camera event | not charging

The same thing is happening on my 3 outdoor cameras. Not picking up herds of deer, heron or fox that stroll through my yard. Now, two of the cameras aren’t recharging. And, my Doorbell camera no longer allows me to save video clips. What’s up with all of the software changes? Time to switch to Ring? Wyse? I invested heavily in Google Hubs, Thermostats, Smoke Detectors, and security cameras. Seems they are now obsolete since the updates make them useless.

Hi @Homeowner3,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing animal detection issues with your Nest Outdoor Cameras and your doorbell, and that two of your Nest Cameras are not charging, and your doorbell is not saving video clips. I completely understand how difficult this situation could be, but don’t worry! I'm here to help you. First, could you please share the following information:

Regarding the detection issue:

  • Are there any Activity Zones configured for those devices? If so, could you please describe the current settings?
  • Have any of the devices been moved recently?

Now, regarding the charging and video history issue that you shared:

  • What are the specific models of your Nest Cameras and Doorbell? If you're unsure, you can find this information in our Help Center under "Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells."
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • Do you have an active subscription?
  • To charge your devices, are you using the original cables?
  • What is the status of the LED light on your Nest Outdoor Cameras?
  • Are you using the Nest app or the Google Home app?

Once you have those details, I would be more than happy to assist you with this! Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Debora
