Nest Outdoor Camera will not connect to Network

BenFalk1

I have two Nest Outdoor cameras for several years now and they have worked great but I was having problems with my Wi-Fi being too slow. I just recently upgraded my Shaw Internet with the New eero Plus Pro routers. Since, I have not been able to connect my cameras to that system. I have a Nest doorbell that connected no problem but these older cameras simply will not connect to the Network. I can find the cameras on my phone, my Network shows up, I enter the code and I jut get a code C223 - Try Again, which I understand means they cannot connect.

I have removed the app and re-intalled, I have taken the cameras down and brought them in the house and tried them in the house and directly beside the router, I have unplugged them for days and tried them again, all to no success. There are no factory reset buttons to push on these cameras, all you can do is unplug them and plug them back in. I am at a complete loss and ready to toss them in the garbage! Please help!

@BenFalk1

With the older Google Nest cameras (we have several), you have to remove the camera from the Google Nest app in order to reset it. I think you have to do that while you are still on your old Wi-Fi network and therefore still have network access to the camera.

Are you able to set the network name (SSID) and password on your new router/modem to the same values used on your old router/modem? That's Google Nest's first recommendation when changing Wi-Fi, given the challenges in updating Wi-Fi settings on Google Nest devices (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9223711?).

I no longer have access to my old Wi-Fi network. Unfortunately your answer is beyond my capabilities as a solution with my limited skills in that area. I would need ot bring someone in to help me and in doing so, could probably just buy new cameras that will work. I am a bit disappointed and frustrated that this was not easier to switch over.

@BenFalk1

It's really unfortunate Google Nest makes it difficult to update Wi-Fi settings.

Most internet service providers provide the customer with access to their router/modem, and in most cases the customer can update their network name (SSID) and password, but you're right, you need to be comfortable doing so. And when you do update those values, it means you'll then have to log your phone or computer (and other devices) back on to the network using those updated values.

Good luck!

Hello BenFalk1,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check out what’s going on. If you happen to have the 1st Generation Nest Camera, there is another way to set it up or connect to a new WiFi network using a Windows computer.

Check out this link on how to set up your camera on a computer. Let me know if that helps.

I appreciate the help, @MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

Edmond
