Nest Wireless Outdoor Won’t recognize while in idle mode!

My Nest Outdoor 2nd gen wireless will NOT recognize anything while it is in battery mode! It works fine while it’s plugged in but it will not send alerts while in battery mode. I’m reading about many other people with this problem. Is this a problem specific fix to ALL of these Outdoor wireless 2nd gen devices ? Does anyone have one that actually works while in battery mode? I’m planning on sending mine back to google tomorrow. Thanks!

Our Google Nest Camera (Battery) works fine as long as it is plugged in with the optional power cable, as it has been for 15 months now. If it is unplugged, it does not detect someone walking in front of the camera.

I must be confused?……what’s the point of having wireless if you have to have it plugged in? Isn’t it supposed to work without being plugged in?

Yes, it is.  I was just sharing our experience.
