Nest app login not working when adding device to Google Home

DavidW

After resetting my Nest doorbell, I'm trying to add the device back to Google Home. But when adding a device that 'Works with Google' it sends me to a Nest login page that does not recognise my password (a Google password I know is correct). There is no option to sign in with Google, it just asks for a Nest password. So I hit the 'forgotten password' button with an email address I know is connected with the account (my Nest subscription bills are sent here) and I do not receive a reset password email.

What is going on? This is so frustrating!

There is no option to use Google sign in, it does not recognise my password, and will not send a password reset message.

I am totally stuck. This is a very poor experience.

Help anybody?

I am getting the same error, have you managed to move past this?

The nest app itself works but I can't link nest devices to the Home app

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

This doesn't answer the query at all. I am experiencing the same problem. Why is there an option to connect your Best account to the Google Home app if it doesn't work?

How can two products owned by Google not be able to talk to each other? This needs addressing.

Hey folks.

Have you gone through the migration process from Nest to Google Home? If you want to be able to use Google Home, you will have to migrate your account over. Please note; you cannot migrate back.

Best regards,

Brad.

Yes, I've been through this migration and it still doesn't work. The system / set up is trash. There is zero ways of getting your Nest Protect smoke alarms listed in the Google Home app. Can't be done. Nada. Nothing. Forget it.

@TOMSK

That is correct. The Nest Secure system is not available in the Google Home app. It is exclusive to the Nest app as a lot of the products have been discontinued. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Brad.

I am afraid you will need to reach out to the Thermostat forums for assistance. I cannot assist you with this issue in the Cams and Doorbells forum.
