Nest cam battery not charging when connected to doorbell adapter

I have a wireless nest and have connected it to doorbell adapter as per specs needed. Up to 24v etc. unfortunately while connected to this power source it doesn’t charge and battery continues to get depleted. I have checked the output power and it’s as should be. So it doesn’t get charged to 80% while on power.

Hi banjeze

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm so sorry to hear that your Nest cam battery is draining even leaving the power adapter. I'm happy to help!

I would like to ask some questions about your concern, please kindly try to do the troubleshooting below:

To assist you better, please answer the following questions:

  • Did you receive any notification from the Google Home app?
  • Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?
  • Did the camera work in the first installation?
  • Is there any damage in the power adapter?

In the meantime, please follow the next steps:

  • Move the power adapter in a different power outlet
  • The pins on the camera stand or cable should also be in contact with the pads on the camera.
  • Check if the power outlet is sending power. Test this by upping another device into the outlet
    • If the device doesn't charge or turn on, you might have to contact an electrician to fix the issue or use another power outlet.
  • Restart your Nest Camera
    • Disconnect your camera from the power by unplugging the power adapter from the electrical outlet.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Plug the power adapter back into an outlet. Your camera will restart.

Note: The power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist you further!

Best regards,

Rusell.
