Nest cam with floodlight off-line, but motion sensor works

Marian9

My nest cam with floodlight has an error that says  it is off-line and I’ve tried turning it on and off.

Other nest cam products are connected to the Internet, so I know that’s not an issue. In addition, the motion sensor light continues to work so clearly the power is getting to it. It also indicates the battery % in the Google home app.

Any suggestions on how I can get it back online to be able to see the videos and record them?

Hi @Marian9,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Cam with floodlight is offline. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • How far is the Nest camera from the router?
  • Can the camera find other Wi-Fi networks?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?
  • Has the camera ever successfully connected to this network?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Weak Signal: Ensure your Nest Cam is within the optimal range of your Wi-Fi router. Try moving it closer.
  • Network Interference: Other devices might be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal. Try temporarily disabling other wireless devices in the area.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Thank you for your reply.
The issue started a few months ago

The camera is mounted high above the garage doors about 40 yards from the router and has worked fine for about three years.  I have not tested Wi-Fi network since I only have one.  There are no other devices nearby and I can’t move the camera since it’s mounted.  Two other nest cameras in the house, work fine and have no issue with connecting to the Internet.

The power is fine because the motion sensing light goes on for floodlight camera that won’t connect.

Would appreciate any suggestions For how to fix this

thanks!!
