Nest camera (battery) plugging in but showing low battery

Hello, I recently purchased the wired plug in for the nest doorbell cameras and I got them installed and worked on day one, but now one of my doorbells shows the low battery sign instead of the infinitely symbol. It says its plugged in but I'm not sure if it's working or not as the battery percentage has been slowly dropping. I know it's been really cold the last few days but my other doorbell isn't having any issues.

The battery doorbell always runs off of battery power, even when it is wired, and the battery is trickle-charged through the wires and cannot charge at temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius). See this Help topic:

That's why, when we added a doorbell for our third, unwired entrance, we got the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell and powered it with an OhmKat Power Adapter designed for the Nest Hello. It does fine here in Minnesota with temperatures that can get as cold as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, as do all of our other wired Google Nest cameras and doorbells, including our 2nd gen battery camera, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable. (As the Help post above notes, the battery CAMERA works differently than the battery DOORBELL, for some reason.)

Hi folks,

Thanks for your input, @MplsCustomer

@JoshR9289, yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Cam (battery) is plugging in but showing low battery. Could you follow the steps here in the troubleshoot low-battery issues for Nest Cameras and Doorbells guide and let us know how it goes?

Best,

Zoe

So now my doorbell isn't even connecting anymore. It showed up in my home but when I would try and see the video it would say unavailable, so I tried removing and reconnecting it in the app and it's not finding it. I'm starting to think it's broken or something

@JoshR9289

Since you were getting a low battery warning, did you try bringing your battery doorbell inside and charging it?

You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

I tried charging it all night inside and when I go to try and add the camera back by scanning the QR code it says it can't connect to the camera and to check my internet but that's worker.

Hello JoshR9289,

Thank you for providing that information. To assist you further, I’d like to confirm the status of the LED light on your Nest doorbell battery. Have you already tried removing the Nest doorbell from the Google Home app and then adding it back? Additionally, have you attempted a factory reset on your Nest doorbell?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Edmond
