How to replace the battery for nest camera?

We've had a battery camera for 22 months now, plugged in with the optional power cable. The batteries are not replaceable.

The batteries are not replaceable.
So much for Google being an environmentally friendly company. What's the purpose of adding an irreplaceable battery to a security camera anyway—unless you're trying to protect your revenue stream?

I have it plugged in for over 24 hrs, however, it is not taking charge and no status light.

Did you dismount it before plugging it in to charge it. Is the USB plug seated firmly in the bottom of the camera with the cord feeding towards the FRONT of the camera?

Yes and Yes

Our battery camera has been "Live" and online continuously plugged in for almost 23 months with the optional power cable. But I have seen a few posts from other customers whose camera or battery or charging cord seems to have just failed.
You could try contacting Support about a possible replacement using the link and instructions in this post in this forum:

A couple more thoughts:
When you installed your battery camera, did you configure it to run in battery mode or plugged in? (You can only do this when installing it.) If it's configured to run in battery mode, are you dismounting it in order to charge it? (That's apparently a requirement.)

I didn't know that. I'm actually in the process of adding plugs to two of my Nest Battery Cams. Are you saying that I have to uninstall and factory reset them and then go through the installation process again after they are connected? Thanks!

Apparently, yes. I've seen it on a couple of posts, but can only find one. It's not very user-friendly.
On the post below, Google Nest Community Specialist @EdmondB said:
"We have a weather-proof cable for 15 Meters that you can connect to the Nest Camera Battery so that you can set it up for 24/7 continuous video recording. But you have to factory reset the Nest Camera and select the options wired in the set-up process instead of battery."
It's apparently not clearly documented anywhere. But on these two threads, the customers ran power to their battery cameras but were unable to get them to work without factory resetting their cameras (twice):
