I am purchasing nest outdoor cameras specifically for vehicle notifications as I have a long gravel driveway. Can you tell me how far out the camera could possibly detect a vehicle? It is a long straight road about 200 yards long. Thanks for help!

Hello, I'm an end user like you. I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you an answer because there are so many factors involved, Day light, night time, wind blowing trees, headlights, no headlight. That being said none of the cameras available to the general consumer work any better or worse in my opinion. I think you are just going to have to try it and if it doesn't work you will know in a week or 2 and you will still be in the window of time to return it.

6-8 meters maximum in my experience... I've tested them by walking across in front of them. It does change a little with the angle they're on but they max out at that distance.

Hello Afeind,
Thanks for posting in our Community and for your questions about the Nest Cam (battery). Let’s get this sorted out.
The camera has a single motion sensor with a 110° horizontal field of view and a range of up to 25 ft (7.5 m).
More information here.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I appreciate the help, Fraa and EmptyNester.
Best,
Lance

You did answer and I do much appreciate it. Wish list would be a nest cam that does people and cars at about 100-200 feet. I need to know when a car approaches from a longer distance. Much appreciated though!!!!!

@Afeind2 You might be able to solve this a different way. Could you use motion sensors and put them way out where the cars are? If that would work consider checking out the simple products from YoLink. They work amazing and they have about 1/4mile distance. I have them and they work great. Then went a motion sensor goes off you turn to the camera live view to see what is going on.

Thank you I will look at that option. Much appreciated
