Nest camera seems to restart during setup

Hey google community,

I have a nest camera that is giving me some trouble. I just changed routers and factory reset it to pair it back. I reset until yellow light. Then the white comes on with the chime. And then the wonderful blinking blue light. However (regardless if I pair it right away or let it sit there) the blue light goes solid. Turns off. And the white light with the chime comes back on. Blinking blue. Then solid blue. And it just repeats this process over for however long I have it plugged in for (shuts down when I unplug it).

The camera fails to set up.

I hope someone has some tips/tricks for this situation. I’m probably going to try to return it but I can’t remember if I bought the warranty on this or not.

thank you

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about that. Let's get this sorted out. What type of Nest Camera are you using? Also, are you still seeing it in the app after doing a factory reset?

You can check this article on how to Restart or factory reset Nest camera as reference.

Regards,

Steve

Hey,

I ended up returning it for a new one that works. But I’m curious if there was anything else I could do.

I had the next camera battery (indoor/outdoor). I deleted it from my google home, so it was not there when I restarted it. I factory restarted it according to googles websites (I got the solid yellow and confirmation tone). But the issue was after I factory reset it (which I ended up doing multiple times), the camera would start with a white dot, the tone would play and then the blue pulsating light would come on (ready for connection). But then it would become a solid blue light and after a few seconds turn off and restart back at the white light. It would do this endlessly if I had it connected to the power.

Hi folks,

Happy to hear that! I appreciate you following the steps to help troubleshoot. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Steve

SteveT1,

Returning a defective camera would be considered “resolving” the issue, but what if someone reading this thread doesn’t have the opportunity to return their camera. What would you recommend them trying if a factory reset doesn’t work. Has there been any other incidents where the blue blinking light went solid? Can you explain more about these issues? Or are they outside your knowledge?

Thank you

Hi Noremac,

Thanks for the reply. In situations where a factory reset won't work, we can consider the device as faulty and work on a replacement as a resolution if it's within warranty.

Steve
