Is there a way to add a nest camera if you do not have the code?  I have the serial number.

Hi @abernaki

If your phone can’t scan the QR code or you don't have the QR saved, you can manually type in the key or serial number.  Look for a 6-character alphanumeric code (letters and numbers) printed on the camera body. YouTube

Tap Continue without scanning at the bottom of the QR code scanning screen. Then, type in your product’s entry key or serial number.
You can tap Find the code or Show me how, and the app will show you where the serial number is located on your product.
Hope this helps-

J

And on the 2nd and 3rd gen indoor cameras, the 6-character setup code is found inside the base of the camera.  See this video: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/16577370

It’s a regular gray/black nest indoor cam . I do not have the six digit code.  It’s normally on the back of the camera but is not on this one. The serial number is longer than the six digit code

@abernaki

If you have the 1st gen Google Nest Indoor Camera, is the 6-character alphanumeric setup code on the base of the camera?

it is not.  Other 1st gen Google Nest Indoor Cameras have it on the back of the camera this one does not.  It was basically a sticker that has worn or fallen off.

@abernaki

If the sticker with your QR code and setup code has fallen off and the setup code is nowhere else on the camera, I think you may be out of luck.  We've always written down the setup codes for our cameras and doorbells, in case they become unreadable.

I have the setup code written on the camera. However, the app asks me to scan the QR code, which is not on the camera. When I get to the setup page where it asks me to scan the QR code, I do not see any option to "Tap Continue without scanning at the bottom of the QR code scanning screen." as suggested above.

Why is this so difficult? All I've done is change my wifi password.

I don't know which camera you have, but if, for example, you have the battery camera, it SHOULD say "Continue without scanning" in the lower left corner of your screen, as shown in the install video here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10919314

I can't upload a screen capture showing this because, as is usually the case, this forum's feature to uplaod images is broken.
