Nest doorbell 3 gen on alexa uk

Gen 3 doorbell works so well, very happy with WPA3, etc.

I only have one problem: we use the Amazon Alexa app as our house works off Alexa, which works well through the Nest app on the Alexa app.

We pay for an AI subscription which gives face recognition and 24-hour recording, etc. It's amazing! Also, the camera can monitor 24 hours plus without turning the camera off.

The camera recognizes the person on reports and notifications on mobile and on daily reports, but the big problem is it will only do a generic voice saying "someone is at the door" and not announce the name.

Any ideas if, when using the Alexa app, you'll only get a voice saying "someone is at the door" but it will advise the person's name on the notification on the screen?

Hi @Cwbc,

Thanks for posting in the community! I understand that while your Nest Doorbell is working as expected, you are wondering if Alexa can announce a specific person’s name rather than just saying "someone is at the door". I'm happy to help clarify this.

Familiar Face Detection is unavailable in your country of residence, which is why you aren't receiving those specific announcements. You can check this: Learn about familiar face detection to see which regions currently support this feature. Also, please note that Familiar Face Detection is not compatible with Alexa integration at this time. You can check this article: Control Google Nest products with Amazon Alexa to see which types of announcements are supported when pairing a Nest Doorbell with Alexa.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Anna

Hi there,

Thanks for coming back to me and for the follow-up. I’m glad to continue assisting you.

While this feature might be working for you, it is not officially supported by Google in your location. For that reason, I would not recommend using a VPN, as it could cause your devices to stop working properly.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Anna
