If you enable "Visitor announcements" under your doorbell's settings, it should send an announcement to any and all of your Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers whenever the doorbell is pressed.

Hi

Thank you for your comment. Unfortuatly, it says in the Google home app, that i cant enable visitkort annoncements when my doorbell runs on battery. Its very strange that it cant do that. Its a major funktion that should work on batteries since the doorbell is a battery doorbell.

@KrisD

That does NOT seem right at all. According to other customers in this forum, Google Nest is marketing a battery doorbell/Nest Mini combination for customers who can't wire their doorbell. And the "Visitor announcements" instructions make no mention of them not working with a battery doorbell that is not wired. Besides, the battery doorbell actually ALWAYS runs on battery even when wired. When the battery doorbell is NOT wired, it seems like the "Indoor chime" setting is disabled, but that makes sense because there are no doorbell wires running to an internal doorbell chime and transformer.  (Note that the "Visitor announcements" and "Indoor chime" settings are entirely different.)

IMG_0320.PNGYes, but thats unfortuatly the truth. I have taken a screenshot from my home app on my iPhone 12. Its in Danish, but it says it in the top of the screenshot.

I think Google Nest Support can answer what "Electronic sound devices will not work with your doorbell when it is running on batteries" really means. However, I do NOT think it means that "Visitor announcements" are disabled when the doorbell is unwired. This would not make sense and would contradict Google Nest's own marketing (https://store.google.com/au/product/nest_doorbell_battery?hl=en-GB) about pairing the battery doorbell with a Nest Mini (see screen shot below).

In your screen shot, "Visitor announcements" ("Meddelelser om besog") is NOT disabled or grayed out, while "Indoor chime" ("Ring til den inddendors lydenhed") IS grayed out and disabled.

If running on battery power disabled "Visitor announcements", why wouldn't the user interface disable "Visitor announcements" as well as "Indoor chime"?

There are at least two other reasons why a Nest Hub, Nest Mini, or Nest speaker would not announce a doorbell ring:

1) The Nest Hub, etc. are set to "Do not disturb".

2) The Nest Hub, etc. are in a different Google Nest "home/structure" than the doorbell.
