Nest doorbell (battery) only works when ringing doorbell

Two days ago, I charged my doorbell and since then, it only works when someone rings the doorbell. It doesn't (always?) start recording when someone simply walks past. I never had this issue before the last charge. I didn't change any settings and the doorbell still works properly as long as someone rings it. Sometimes it does record movement and sends a notification, for example I came home yesterday no issues but no recording or notification when I left this morning. Connection is fine, as I said, when you press the button it works as it should.

I think Google Nest's battery cameras and doorbells do not do well at detecting and recording events if they are running on battery power. We have had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for 14 months now, plugged in with the optional power cable, and it is always "Live", recording 24/7 with our Nest Aware Plus subscription, and detecting and sending event notifications. But if I unplug the camera (so it is running on battery power and is therefore in "Idle" mode) and then test it by walking in front of the camera, it does not detect an event when I walk right in front of it.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't really had this experience with any of my Nest cams (some of which are wired, some not) nor the doorbell, until now. The doorbell always records every event perfectly fine, I've had it for almost a year now and never had any issues.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried everything I could think of (reinstall the device etc.) nothing worked so I sent it back to the seller for repairs last week.

I haven't, and I'm not sure why I should? I contacted the store I bought it at and they resolved the issue, just posted it here as an update.
