Nest doorbell battery will not ring inside

dontgothere

My Nest Doorbell BATTERY will not ring inside my home. When I go to settings that is greyed out. It also will NOT announce when someone rings the doorbell.

EXTREMELY USELESS is it won’t even let me know on my nest speaker that someone is ringing the doorbell. I should NOT have to keep my iPhone in my hand 24/7/365.

Do NOT tell me that wireless doorbells don’t ring inside. I have a doorbell that DOES but this one is inexpensive with no camera feature

@dontgothere

If your battery doorbell is NOT wired and therefore NOT connected to an indoor doorbell chime, then the "Indoor chime" option is automatically disabled and grayed out. To get a notification on your Nest Hubs or Nest speakers, the "Visitor announcements" option (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) on your doorbell needs to be enabled. If the "Push notifications" option is enabled on your doorbell, you should get notifications on your phone.

Useless as few people carry their phone with them 24/7/365

well this is not very useful. I would expect that a doorbell is meant to ring indoors. Is there a better solution for this?

Agreed. I have the same issue

@DA111and @dontgothere

If you enable the "Visitor announcements" option (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) on your doorbell, you can get announcements on all Nest Minis, Nest Hubs, and Nest speakers that are not set to "Do not disturb". If you don't have any, you can get Nest Minis for $39 to $49.

Nope didn’t help

@dontgothere

If you have "Visitor announcements" enabled on your doorbell, you SHOULD get announcements on all Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers in the same Google Nest "household".

Thanks, I can hear an announcement on the Nest inside, but am disappointed that there is now way of getting the doorbell chime to sound on the Nest inside as well.

Hi everyone,

I'm chiming in to ensure you've got the answer you're looking for.

Whether the Nest Doorbell (battery) rings the chime inside depends on two things: 1. You already have an existing indoor chime, and 2. You have the device set up as a wired doorbell.

If both are true, follow this video guide to set up your doorbell.

On the other hand, if you don’t have an existing indoor chime, then you have a wire-free installation. You need a Nest speaker or display to enable visitor announcements.

Feel free to let me know if you have more questions about this.

Thanks for the help, MplsCustomer and Zoe.

Best,

Lance
