Nest doorbell camera delayed recording

Moninest

I just got the nest doorbell camera and it is super delayed on recording. It won't record anything until your about three feet away, even with sensitivity on high. I've seen other posts, and it appears the wired cameras have the same issue? Is this being fixed? It's a little disappointing to miss people approaching until they are right at the door. I would sacrifice battery life for a few extra seconds of recording time in the beginning.

@Moninest

The "wired" battery doorbell also runs off the battery (with the battery being trickle-charged), so it too is in "Idle" mode most of the time and takes awhile to wake up. In contrast, our Google Nest Camera (Battery)--when plugged in all the time with the optional power cable--is powered and "Live" all the time, and therefore catches events when they start.

(This Google Nest Help page notes that the "the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge": https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en.  This fact--and the cold weather limitation--is why we instead got the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell for our unwired entrance and powered it with an OhmKat Power Adapter for the Nest Hello.)

Hey Moninest,

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. You can set the cameras to minimize the detected events. To check if you may have disabled the detection for some events, do the following steps:

1. Open the Google Home app, and tap the affected camera.
2. Tap Settings .
3. Select Events.
4. Verify that the events you want to receive are on.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,
Archie
