Just installed Nest doorbell (hardwired) and put Google Home app on my iPhone. Can anyone tell me how I can get my phone to ring when the doorbell is used? Do I need to have the Next app on my phone as well?

Google Nest's doorbells (old and new) only provide the standard notification sounds and banners available on your phone. They do NOT "ring" your phone. If you have an Apple Watch, a snapshot notification appears with the notification sound. Some posts in this forum seem to indicate there is some ability to configure sounds on an Android phone.
If you have the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell, it will NOT work in the Google Nest app.

Are you saying that when someone pushes the door bell button your phone isn't make any sound at all? Or are you asking how to have the phone make a 'ding-dong' sound? It can't, we are stuck with the sound that Google has preprogrammed .

It’s painful! A friend told me to buy a chime and install it near to the Google Nest. I certainly wouldn’t have purchased if I had know this. Buyer beware I suppose 🤦♀️

Hi Macc55,
Thanks for posting in our Community. I totally understand that this would be a good feature to use with your Nest doorbell, but it isn’t available.
As this is a community forum supported by other users and community specialists, the best way to get your thoughts, feedback, or feature requests to the people who can make changes is by submitting feedback. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions in the future.
I appreciate your help, MplsCustomer and EmptyNester.
Best,
