Nest doorbell latch clicker won’t release

I’ve recently fitted the new Nest Doorbell but the clicker latch is very tight and it wasn’t easy to lock it onto the wall plate. But after I got it to  lock in place, although not flush to the plate, it now won’t open with the pin device! And I’ve tried so hard with the pin that I’ve ended up bending it too! What do I do?

I need to remove it to finish the set-up and I’m concerned that it’s now on my wall and not recording anything like someone trying to steal it.
