Nest doorbell not in Nest app

I know it’s gonna sound like I’m wearing foil on my head… But, the Nest doorbell that I just installed does not work on the Nest app! Apparently, it uses something called “Google Home”, which best I can tell is the worst home automation app ever devised, especially compared to the very intuitive and useful Nest app. Does anyone know how to get my Nest doorbell to show up in the Nest app alongside my other cameras and thermostat? Also, we pay for a Nest aware subscription, which does not appear to work with the doorbell now that it is in the Google Home app, which takes me to my next question…Is Google a mom-and-pop shop? Who is creating their products…a 3 year old? Sorry, don’t mean to insult 3 year olds. They could do better than this.

We discovered the same thing when we got a battery camera 15 months ago. Google Nest decided that its new cameras and doorbells would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website.

However, your Nest Aware subscription covers all cameras and doorbells in the same Google Nest "home/structure", but you have to use the Google Home app to access history for the newer cameras and doorbells.

You can see live streaming for ALL of your cameras and doorbells on the beta home.google.com website.

Thanks for the response. The Nest app / website is superior to the Google home app / website you provided. Too bad that Google didn’t allow Nest customers to keep full access to the Nest app and website. Now, I need to research alternatives and potentially convert away from Nest. There’s nothing keeping us with Google / Nest anymore, given the technology is why we liked it. Now, we don’t like the technology, so we are struggling with why we would stay with Nest/Google.

Thank you for your feedback on this, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest cams in the Nest app like you may be used too. However, you can now use the Google Home web app to view your cameras and doorbells.

The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Yes, it would be a huge help if you could enable the new NEST doorbell to behave like the prior generation and show up in the NEST app. Can you help with that?

Countless people have asked for the ability to have the 2nd gen doorbells in the NEST app with the rest of their NEST apps. Every time we get to this point in a thread, Google makes some empty / worthless comment like “we hear you”. I don’t care if you hear me (or the countless other people). I just want what should be simple for the 2nd most valuable public company in the world…make the 2nd gen doorbells work with the NEST app. I fully expect you to close this thread as soon as this comment comes across because that’s what big tech companies do…silence criticism they don’t like. Good grief this is frustrating to deal with people like you that say “we hear you”. The condescension is unbearable! Here’s an idea…turn on the ability to have 2nd gen doorbells in the NEST app, then your countless customers will be happy. Or…better yet, don’t make empty comments like “we hear you”. I see right through your virtue signaling. You don’t care and you don’t hear. You just say that to push the perception that you care and hear.
