Nest doorbell not sending movement notifications or recording events

For the last few days my doorbell camera is not sending notifications or recording events or keeping history. I can open the Google Home app and see live, but there's no history and currently no notifications. I've been searching through the settings to see what may be off, but not finding anything that seems to be causing the  issue. I've reached out to Google for help and for 2 days I am being sent in circles and have gotten ZERO help from Google. So, I am hoping someone else may know what may be going on since Google is no help.

Of course you disconnected your whole  system and turned everything off and re-set the doorbell cam correct? Be sure to follow proper linking procedures when connecting (whole system) together,  as well as back to your wifi .

Check your wires on door cam for kinks or weak spots or even small cuts in the line witch may seem harmless but could be the direct cause of no playback and related issues . *Good luck *

When you say disconnect. Are you referring to undoing the hardwire for disconnecting it from the internet or removing it from Google as of if I had it. This is getting complicated I fear. This is at my rental property where I do not reside, so I can’t physically do anything with the doorbell until I go back which could be a few months. It was working until 4 days ago.

Hi JCox42,

This usually happens when the Nest Aware subscription or event recording settings are off, or if there’s a connectivity issue. Here’s a checklist to troubleshoot:

  1. Check Nest Aware subscription – Without it, event history and notifications may not work.
  2. Verify event settings – Open Google Home > Doorbell > Settings > Events & Notifications, and ensure motion alerts are enabled.
  3. Restart the doorbell – Unplug or power cycle it; sometimes this refreshes cloud syncing.
  4. Check WiFi strength – Weak connection can prevent event recording or notifications.
  5. Update firmware/app – Make sure both the Nest device and Google Home app are on the latest version.

If all of these are correct and it still doesn’t work, a factory reset of the doorbell usually fixes persistent recording issues.

My Google Nest is through ADT. I don’t know anything about a subscription. I pay ADT monthly for the last 4 years. I’ve never paid a separate subscription during this time.

I’ll check the rest suggest.

Thanks
