Nest doorbell notifications

I have just started setting up a new Nest Doorbell and trying to get the notifications to work. I have noticed that I am only receiving notifications when my iPhone is locked, and not when I'm am actively using my phone. Am I getting any setting incorrect?

If this happened to me, I would try rebooting my iPhone and if that didn't help, deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app.

I think this might be an iPhone setting and not a google home app setting.  I just googled "iphone not getting alerts when I'm on a phone call" and a lot of hits came up. Here is one of them...

Check Notification Settings for Messages

Open Settings and tap Notifications > Messages. Ensure Allow Notifications is green. Next, check the boxes for Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners. Tap Sounds and choose a loud message tone.Aug 27, 2022
