Nest doorbell recognizes faces but isn’t saying who it is anymore - just familiar face.

Hi,

My Nest doorbell used to send my phone a notification saying who was at the door. In the last few days, I’ve noticed it now just says familiar face at the front door. All my people are still saved on the nest app. Any ideas what’s going on? Is it a big in a recent software update?

It’s really annoying!!

Thanks for reaching out. Try to turn off and on the feature and observe if it will make a difference. See the steps below. 

Home app

1. Open the Home app .
2. Tap Settings Subscriptions Nest Aware Familiar face detection.
3. Turn familiar face detection on or off for each camera.

Nest app

1. Open the Nest app .
2. Tap Settings .
3. Select Familiar faces.
4. Turn Familiar face detection on or off for each camera.
