Nest doorbell recording way too many insignificant “motion” events

The doorbell records the clip events so I can see when someone comes up to the door which I like but the events I actually want to see get lost in a sea of pointless “motion” events of a car driving by or someone just walking by on the sidewalk.  I don’t want those stupid things to be saved in my today log. I get about 1000 pointless events saved every day of cars driving by or people walking by and all I want are the “people” events.

isn’t there some way to turn off the “motion” events from being saved in my activity log?? Again, it’s filling it up way too much with these pointless things and it makes scrolling backwards to find the things I care about really difficult.

There is. On the camera in question, you can filter out “motion” from the video history list. The camera will still capture these events but you just won’t see them unless you turn the filter on. Furthermore you could have just “person” events show in your video history list so all you see is people for example.

You can then take this further by setting up “activity zones” for certain areas that you want your camera to capture and you can have all of the areas outside of the given zone be ignored and not send you notifications.
