Nest doorbell something went wrong setup 18.1

Nest doorbell is saying something went wrong during setup 18.1. Tried multiple devices. Factory reset the doorbell. This all started when our nest doorbelll stopped showing video the other day. Deleted it from google home but adding it keeps failing. Rebooted my modem, reset the doorbell camera. Nothing seems to work so far

Hello @Thelipsweater,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration of encountering setup issues with your Nest Doorbell. The error code 18.1 indicates a connectivity- or network-related problem. I appreciate your effort in trying to resolve the issue on your own. To help you effectively, I need you to answer the next questions:

  • What type of Nest doorbell do you have? (1st generation wired, battery, or 2nd generation wired)
  • Did you use mobile data or WiFi to perform the setup?
  • What's the status of the light on the Nest Doorbell?
  • How did you perform the factory reset?
  • Did you try setting up a new home structure?

Please keep me posted; it will be a pleasure to help you. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge

Thanks for the reply. I am a network analyst by trade. Actually the problem for me was the network. My router is dishing out ip addresses for two different subnets one doesn’t give me proper internet.. I have a workaround so they will all be on the right subnet until I can ditch this ISpP later this month.

Hi @Thelipsweater ,

Thanks for letting us know about your specific scenario, hopefully with this work around you will have no more issues. However please let us know if you encounter any other issues or assistance you may need with your Nest Doorbell.

Best regards,

Josh.
