Nest doorbell through Google home

Christine
Community Member

I installed my Wired Nest Doorbell and tried to add it to my google home, however when I try to add it, it takes me the nest login page without asking for my google email. I have signed into nest with my google email, so I do not have nest credentials. Is there a way around this? Or is there a way to create a new nest account even with a google email?

Hey there Christine,

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having when trying to set up your doorbell, I'm sure it's frustrating, but I'm happy to look into this for you.

I was able to find a great article that will help you with your questions. It talks about migrating your account to be able to access what you are needing.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

Hi Garrett,

I have a google account that I used to sign into my nest account, so I do not need to migrate. My issue is that I am unable to view my doorbell on my google home app. When I try to add the doorbell, nest only allows me to sign in through through them instead of through google. However, I do not have a sign in for nest since I am using my google account. What do you suggest I do in this case since I cannot view my doorbell through the google home app?

Hi Christine,

Essentially since you haven't migrated from Nest to Google Home it is prompting you to use the Nest App, even though you are using a gmail account. You'll need to use the same email for Nest, but if you don't want to use Nest, you'll need to manually migrate your account over to Google.

Again, I would suggest reviewing the article that I sent you previously to answer any other questions you might have.

The article says Important: If you started using the Nest app after August 19, 2019, you’re already using a Google Account and don’t need to migrate. I don’t have a nest account to migrate. I only have a google account.

Hi Christine,

Apologies for the confusion here. Since it is asking you to log in with a Nest account, would you mind reviewing this article to view how to create a Nest account.

Please let me know if you still have questions.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

Hi Garrett,

I reviewed the article. My Nest App is working fine. I am able to log into my nest App with my Google account. However, my problem is adding my Nest doorbell to my Google Home App. When I try to add my doorbell to my Google Home App, it takes me to the nest login page, however it does not give me the option to login with my Google account.

Hi Christine,

I understand that it's taking you to the Nest Login, which is why you will need to create a Nest login with your Google account. I would suggest doing that so that you can try to login for your Nest doorbell.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
