Nest floodlight cam—6 digit code

Google/nest has to be the worst “smart” system for changing routers. Have a new router and spent most of the day having to delete and re-add every “smart” item of theirs. The last one is the floodlight cam. Not sure what genius decided not to print QR code on camera like the other outdoor camera.  I see some not finding a six digit code. I can’t find mine. I have all the serial code info. Can customer support give me the code with that?

No, unfortunately. If you don't have the QR code sticker that was on the device, you need the 6 digit setup code that is physically printed on the bottom of the device, it should be right below the serial number. The easiest way to see them both is to unplug the power cable and you should be able to see it printed right near the power connector. Here's a photo.

If you ever change router or Wi-Fi network again in the future, instead of resetting the camera, another easier option is to change the Wi-Fi network name and password to the same as before. Your camera should then automatically reconnect to the Wi-Fi.

Thanks. We couldn’t change to same name because new T mobile home wifi gateway would not accept a space character in name, which we previously had.

Found the set up code. Had to unscrew the power cable and the designers at Google decided to print this under the power cable. Such poor design. At least Nest (pre Google) was smart enough to print QR code on readable portion. If my app shows the connected device ID & serial number, I still don’t know why you need to rescan actual device to change the wifi network. The Google/nest products were the worst at reconnecting to a new network. Not a very “smart” joke solution. Other company’s tech products connected seamlessly compared to my nest cams, protect, guard, and floodlight cam (I still can’t get floodlight came to reconnect eve with device ID and 5 different attempts!). Tech companies whose products were seamless to connect:  Roku, LG, Samsung, August, Apple, and Sonos.  Google really needs to step up.

Just a footnote: the 6-character Setup Code can be alpha and numeric characters.
