Hi all. I would love to purchase the new Nest Outdoor Camera/floodlight, but have read that it will not work with the original Nest app. I specifically will not buy it if that is the case, since the Google home app is pretty terrible and does not serve us well for our home uses. Are there plans to have this camera work with the original Nest app? If I have to use two different applications on my phone, I might as well just buy a much cheaper camera. Thank you!

Any of the cameras released in 2021 will not work with the Nest app.

Totally agree with you. Google does an amazing job **bleep**ing up the products they purchase. The Next app was so good. I’ve had soooo many issues with my thermostat and cameras and the “help” offered is useless. You can’t even call them. Horrible customer experience. Everything Google touches turns to **bleep**. They have the worst product managers on the planet. Hard to believe they are a technology company.

It is true that the new cameras will not work on the Nest App. I am saddened by this. However, all cameras will show on the Google Home App. They don't immediately show though. They take a few seconds to load each camera. You have to go to the Google Home App and click on "cameras." I just installed my floodlight camera last night. So far, it works great while it is on but the camera shuts off and says it is not available or it shut off to save the battery and it is hard-wired. It's great that it has a battery back-up for when the power goes out but this issue is frustrating me. I want it to record 24/7. That is the whole point of having Nest cameras instead of Ring products. The Ring products never get triggered to start.

Thanks for the response, but I don’t think you can be of any assistance. Since the new cameras will not be compatible with the Nest App, I purchased cameras from a different company. Disappointing, as I would’ve loved to keep everything on the same ecosystem, but the google home app is awful.
